What is the difference between the SMH10 and the SMH5?

  • The SMH5's distance is about a quarter mile (400 meters), but the SMH10's distance is about half a mile, (900 meters).
  • The SMH5 is smaller and weighs about 77 grams, while the SMH10 is noticeably larger and weighs about 144 grams.
  • The SMH5's talk time is up to 8 hours and standby time of up to 7 days. The SMH10's talk time is up to 12 hours and standby time of 10 days.
  • The SMH5 is able to use the intercom function to talk to only one other Sena Device Headset at a given time, while the SMH10 can use the intercom functions to talk to three other Sena Device Headsets at the same time.
  • The SMH10 is able to use the voice activated intercom function (VOX intercom) while the SMH5 cannot.

Is FM receiver reception (ability to pull in stations) as good on the SMH5-FM as the SMH10? Does the SMH5-FM have the latest firmware update -- I own a MAC computer and am worried about updating firmware. Thanks very much.

    Harold,

The SMH5 does not support multi-conference. It is limited to 1 to 1 intercom, even if you mix it with a pair of SMH10s.
